As part of the Tier-2 Network Equilibrium project, WPD is developing an Advanced Planning Tool (APT). The APT aims to enable better network and outage planning of distribution networks with increasing penetration of variable generation and demands. This will be achieved through the tool’s advanced functionalities, which include the production of estimated power flows using weather forecasts and the network analysis using typical demand and generation profiles.

In this workshop, WPD will present the functionalities of the APT, demonstrate the tool and share the learning gained from the development of the tool up to now. It will also be a good opportunity for DNOs to discuss the limitations of their existing planning tools and provide valuable feedback.
