The energy industry faces significant challenges over the coming decades as we balance increasing use of solar, wind and other renewable forms of generation with ever increasing demands on our aging power network. Western Power Distribution aims to deliver electricity around the clock to homes and businesses, so we are undertaking projects to examine, future options and developments which are a vital part of our assessment and planning.

Project FALCON involves trialling a series of new techniques in addition to developing a new tool for modelling the network with the aim of simplifying and increasing flexibility in energy network management. The trials which are happening in Milton Keynes started in December 2011 and will run until the end of September 2015.
