Whether in small clusters of buildings or major urban expansions, there are opportunities for localised heat and power generation, harvesting, sharing and storage, along with a need to integrate electric/low carbon vehicles. This provides business with opportunities to deliver de-centralised infrastructure fit for the future.
This directory showcases projects that shared £500k awarded by Innovate UK in 2013 for innovative feasibility studies into developing new knowledge and skills in integrating future infrastructure requirements into the very heart of buildings and communities.
All the studies were business-led, operating either alone or in collaboration with partners. Projects were awarded up to £37,500 for studies lasting three months.
The awards were the first phase of a programme aiming to encourage the development of new technologies that will help to integrate future demand and energy supply into a low carbon, affordable, adaptable secure and resilient energy system.
